Bug in ICD Firmware 'icdfirmware-01-20.fw' ? |

Hello folks,
after uploading 'icdfirmware-01-20.fw' into my ICD-U40, I can't communicate with it. Arrrrrgh, it's a nightmare !!!
When I start 'icd.exe' the dialog 'Start Connection' appears, even though the USB driver is already installed.
The only response of the ICD when I click 'Connect' is the error message as follows:
Quote: | Could not connect: Cannot get firmware version: Check ICD power.
|
Big joke, I can't check power, because it's an usb device. All other devices like mouse, usb stick etc. are still working.
Has anybody an idea? Please help...

The ICD-U requires circuit power to comunicate over the USB cable. Good luck with the easy fix. |

We had exactly the same problem regarding the upgrade to 'icdfirmware-01-20.fw', the only way to get it working again was to manually program the file Ccsicd40.hex ( icdfirmware-01-05) into the ICD unit and then upgrade with 'icdfirmware-01-20.fw'. WORKED !! |

Hello folks,
many thanks for your quick help.
I solved the problem quick and dirty by using the version 2.00 of icd.exe.
With this version it works without any difficulties.
Neutone, the power is already there. The LED is ON.
Philies, I would like try to update the icd hardware in the way you discribed.
Thank you very much

Hello agrj,
I did it in the described way:
I installed the version 2.00 of icd.exe in the directory of the existing version 2.70 by using it's setup program.
After starting icd.exe it still works. Fact!
But I can't understand the message of Philies. I also reprogrammed the icd with the firmware ccsicd40.hex while using the icd.exe version 2.00.
So, I install the version 2.70 in a different directory and started it.
There is no improvement, I have got the same error message.
Normally I would say 'Ok Sven, use the version 2.00' but I will use the ccs ide and it supports only the latest version. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.... :-(((
I'm desperated

Hi wedilo
When I reprogrammed the ICD ( Internal ICSP port )with Ccsicd40.hex, I used ICD.exe version 2.7 to upgrade the firmware to the newer one with no problems. |

Hello Philies,
Yes, you used the internal ICSP port and I used icd.exe v2.00 and took an upload (Ccsicd40.hex) to the icd, because it's still running with that version.
I think the result should be the same?!?
But after the upload and starting icd.exe v2.70, there was no improvement, I've got the same error message.
I can't believe it
