Not much new has come out of CCS lately, the last news was June 2017. Are they moving onto different things? |

I hope not!
News I'm not concerned about. They've cut back on compiler updates to what seems like 4x per year. Back when I first started using it, I distinctly remember there sometimes being 2 per day!
They're still reactive to bug reports, at least for me.
Is there some other reason why you feel this way? |

I think the key is, when they launch new compiler 'versions', there is a flourish
of updates to fix the bugs. Once the product is fundamentally working, they
switch to doing slower updates which add new features and/or optimisations.
They have promised the next version will have some fixes to DsPIC memory
handling (which is an area I've had some issues with), and quite a few other
improvements. I think this has been delayed a little fixing some problems
(since they were talking about it being out this week in an earlier email).
They are still responding really quickly when you do report issues, and (of
course), have the perpetual job of adding new chips, so they are still moving
forward.
Trying to work out what you mean about 'the last news', since the latest
update was in September 2018, and had quite a lot of changes. Ah, you mean
their 'news' item on the main site. Must admit, I never look at this!... I suspect
they just haven't bothered to update the site. There have been quite a lot of
changes since it was last altered. |

it would be nice if they communicated something. They don't need to give specific dates. they just gone dark. as to their progress, what is it, what are the new features will there be?

Over many years I have tried that and they just don't respond. if I have a problem they do respond. I think you have a special connection to them. Could you find out what is happening?
