Noise caused by tuner
PostPosted: Wed Jan 07, 2004 10:40 pm     Reply with quote

Hello all
In an application I have a PAL tuner running in parallel to TV. The Coax cable going to the TV from the antenna is doubled to my tuner at the back of the TV. The problem is I have to keep the tuner constantly scanning through five channels per second, and everytime the tuner jumps to a new channel it causes disturbance on the TV screen. Does anyone know any products/methods that can suppress this noise? I tried a ferrite choke that snaps around the coax cable, but it didn't help. In this application I have access to only one source of signal and the tuner has to be located fairly close to the TV, so using another signal feed is not an option and nor is moving the tuner further from the TV.

Thanks.

A few suggestions:

Try building the tuner in a grounded and shielded metal case.

Try using an external coax splitter with the right impedance at the antenna.
