PLL on PIC18F4431
PostPosted: Fri Dec 26, 2014 8:44 am     Reply with quote

Hi searched some topics and i didn't get anything. so...

My ask is about PLL which is multiply with 4times the external osc freq.

I do a half automatic quadcopter.

For the Radio controller i will use 1channel RF modules.

The controller board use 18F4431 and RC use 16F876A.

I will run these modules with UART.

My first ask is:

18F4431 have EUSART, 16F876A have USART.

is this a problem to communicate these PIC's?

Second ask is;

is the first ask not a problem....

I will run the 18F4431 with PLL (10Mhz crystal to 40MHz System clock).

But 16F876A have 20MHz system clock.

EUSART and USART are same Baud rates.

is this make trouble for communicating these PIC's?

On ISIS i have problems. I want to know is this problem appear in real?

There is nothing is what you say, that should cause any problems. However Isis will believe what clock you tell it you are using, even if this is not possible.

Seriously, probably something over 60% of the posts here are people 'starting with Isis', who can't then get the hardware working. What has Isis gained them?. Nothing. In fact it has cost them time, because they should be finding real problems not problems with this (very poor on the PIC) simulator.

So forget Isis.

Then start with just one PIC, and get this talking to a PC _first_.

Sequence should be:
One PIC.
Basic flash an LED test.
Then Comms to a PC.
Then get the packets generating what they should, and giving the data it should.
Only once you have one end working, start on the second chip.

Trying to design both ends at once, is a 'sure fire' way to waste your time.
