Hello,
We just got our Embedded programming book and E3 board package, installed the compiler you download for the chip on the board, and while the compile works great, when we try to program the chip we get an error message no USB driver installed. I manually had to install the driver from the download web site and made sure it was present and said it was working in the device manager. Nothing. same message! We tried both an XP and Win7 computer and got the same message.
what am i missing here? We hope to get this up today, so we can spend our valuable weekend learning C. Thanks to all who respond!

I appreciate your response, however the hope was if you download the books software and drivers the project board will be accessible! I think the USB driver for the compiler may have to be changed so others like me that buy this book combo dont have to go thorugh this. Any one have any ideas? has ANYONE else bought this book combo?

Select the Compile tab on the top menu.
There is a down arrow on the right side of the Build & Run box. Select the little down arrow ribbon on the right side of the box.
In the pulled down menu, select "E3 USB Loader".

Jeff, we found this out ourselves last night. The books appendix where you try it out for the first time however is completely wrong. It does not mention this tab, which is barely visible. This and the fact the USB drivers do not install, and had to be put in manually was the big issue. I feel for the others who buy this book now... |

Arizona Chris,
I was in the same boat a couple of weeks ago. I started with the install based upon the appendix. The E3 USB loader information isn't even apparent in the text when you set up the first program.
Hopefully they will publish an errata on the books website. They haven't yet.
Good look.
I'm moving though the chapters. Post if you have any questions. There may be a few of us that are using the book.

Jeff, I know this will be the issues of many! However, now the worst is past and we can read on in the book and learn.
