DS1077 does not give ACK signal
PostPosted: Sun Dec 14, 2014 5:16 am     Reply with quote

hello,
I am trying to use the DS1077 programmable oscillator with the dspic33ep256mu806. My problem is that when I write the device address on the I2C line connected to the DS1077 I don't get an ACK signal back. My microcontroller and support circuitry are ok since I have used the same circuit previously to run the adc and other applications. I am copying the parts of my code that setup the DS1077 and I2C below. Can any one point out if there is a mistake in it? Thanks for your help.

Code:

#include <33EP256MU806.h>
...
//I2C Definitions
#use i2c(Master,FAST=400000,sda=PIN_F4,scl=PIN_F5)

// DS1077 address
#define I2C_address 0xB0
int8 status=0;
...

//Test ACK
i2c_start();
status = i2c_write(I2C_address);  // Status = 0 if got an ACK
i2c_stop();

I send the status variable to my desktop through the serial interface. It is always 1 which indicates no ACK signal.

Thanks Smile

Try PCMs' bus scanner program to see if the chip will respond.

I assume you have the pullups on the clock and data lines...and the ds1077 address lines are all grounded.
