Need help selecting PIC with two hardware PWM channels.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 04, 2014 5:06 pm     Reply with quote

Hi Guys,

I am currently using a pic16f87 which has only one PWM, however I need 2 independent PWMs that can be set at different levels to change the brightness of LEDs.

The good thing about the pic16f87 is the use of the internal clock which allowed me to set the correct PWM frequency for LEDs.

Could somebody help me select a PIC with 2 hardware PWM channels suitable for LED dimming

Thanks

Use this tool to find the PIC that you want:
http://www.microchip.com/maps/microcontroller.aspx

1. Set the Prefix to 16F.
2. Set the Package to 18 pins (both columns).
3. Set the PWM Chan (left column) to 2.

Wait up to 5 seconds every time you set a parameter for it to update.

Anyway, I see only two PICs offered that meet the above requirements.
This assumes you must have an 18 pin DIP package.

Make sure you have a programmer that can do the newer PICs,
such as Pickit 3, ICD3, or CCS equivalent.

Thank you PCM for the link. I also found two PICs and I will get them in for testing.
