I am using a 20x4 alphanumeric lcd. It seems to be using the third line as an extension of the first and merging 2nd and 4th line. Any comment?

Obvious comment. What LCD?. There are small timing differences with different manufacturers, I've had units that need a longer pause at start-up in particular.
