Help regarding - PWM pulse distortion

Hi All,

I require 2Khz, 2us pulse. I was able to get this pulse with a 8Mhz crystal.
But I find there is a shoot up during the pulse rise and pulse fall time. How do I prevent this?

uC - 16F877A.
Clock - external crystal - 8Mhz.
compiler - ccs 4.138

What you are looking at is called inductive ringing.

What you need to learn about is transmission line theory and proper termination of high speed digital signals.
