Code for a Dallas DS1721 Temperature sensor ?
PostPosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 9:30 am     Reply with quote

Has anybody got the code for a DS1721 temperature sensor ?
I think it works with an I2C bus.

I am going to use it with a PIC 16F88 (or similar) micro.

Thanks, Nigel P

Sorry but not enough information !
You _think_ it has I2C bus ? Please, go to the Maxim website and download the datasheet and read it.
Cutting a driver for it is child's play, maybe 2-3 hours to cut and test, depending on whether you want just temperature readings or 100% control over the device( as a thermostat ?). Which mode 9-10-11-12 bit resolution.

Which PIC ? Will you use the hardware I2C peripheral or software ?
Hardcoding of pins for DSchip access or universal for any PIC ?

Read this Maxim page on the ds1721 and then look in your CCS drivers
directory:
http://www.maxim-ic.com/datasheet/index.mvp/id/2765/t/do

If you have any problems, then use the CCS forum search page below
and read all threads on the ds1621:
http://www.ccsinfo.com/forum/search.php
Those threads should be able to solve most of your problems.
