PCWH Fix for 18F8585 "fetch" bug?
PostPosted: Thu May 05, 2011 3:45 am     Reply with quote

Can anyone confirm that PCWH now includes a fix or workaround for the so-called "fetch" bug that afflicts PIC18F6585/6680/8585/8680 as described in errata http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/80162e.pdf?

The key issue is deciding whether paying for support to get access to upgrades is worthwhile. We are currently on PCWH 4.107.

Thanks,

EDIT: Answering my own question: Careful checking of the listing file show that the workaround is present in 4.107. I presume it must be in later versions too. That doesn't mean my code runs reliably on the 18F8585. We are seeing random reboots on some versions of the code on some PICs, maybe one out of four of our production run. Frustratingly that means the latest and greatest code is dead in the water right now :-((
