I've decided to start working on a new hobby project.
I want to make a display generator library for generating composite video in PAL (and later NTSC) format.
My plan is to support characters using the printf commands just like when you use a character based LCD and include the LCD.c library file as well as simple line drawing by specifying 8 bit start and end point coordinates. For simplicity I want to do all this in grayscale.
The described features will give me a very poor resolution (8 bit horizontal and diagonal) but it will provide me with enough functionality to get started using video monitors as displays.
...where I have read the basics about how to generate video signals. I plan to start building a setup on a breadboard this weekend and see if I can get anywhere.
I've made this post because I hope some of you guys might be able to provide me with additional resources on the task I've got ahead of me. -Let alone if somebody already has done the work making such a library for the CCS compiler. Then there's no reason for me to re-do it.
When/if I succeed I will make the library public available to all of you.
Cheers!
