Hi all
I have written a code for 18f8722, 70% of the total memory; I looking now for a free bootloader. I tried the bootloader down:

my problem is how do i load the hex file of the original code? is hyperterminal ok ?
do i need to change the start address of the main program ?

you need to look at the bootloader examples carefully.
Obviously you'd need to change the start address of your main program. Just as two pieces of matter cannot exist in the same space at the same time,
2 pieces of code cannot overlap the same sections of memory.
So the bootloader will need to reside somewhere (protected space hopefully or written to protect self) and the application will live someplace ELSE.
You also need to worry about re-mapping interrupts if your bootloader uses any or protects that area of memory (always a good idea)
As for CCS's bootloader, I think it will use the SIOW.exe program nicely... if you're using the commandline compiler I don't think you'll have that.. so hyperterminal is your next bet. (although try teraterm or realterm. They're a bunch nicer.)
