Can anyone help me in writing a code that counts a digital signal from 50 to 180 pulses per minute.

There is tachometer code on this page, for low frequency signals.

I don't have 18f2580 but I have 16f877 I tried the codes in the above link but it doesn't work. Can you advise please.

1. What is the frequency of the input signal to the CCP1 pin on PIC ?
2. Are you sure that you have the signal connected to the CCP1 pin ?
3. Do you have a ground connection between the signal source and the PIC ?
4. What are the high and low voltage levels of the signal ?
5. Is the signal a digital rectangular waveform, or is it an analog sinewave ?
