Write a number on LCD

How can I write a number (like int16) on a 2x16 LCD?
I tried my LCD with lcd.c and flex_lcd.c but I just can put char.

Can be useful something like this one: http://www.fisertek.it/images/lcd.c
...that unfortunately must be compile with hi-tech compiler
