PROBLEM WITH read sms from mobile to PIC 16F877

Hello all, I have this problem. I am working on a project. In my project I have connected Erricson T20 through an rs232 to the pic 16f877.
My problem that I can't read the sms received on the mobile.
I have used getc(), and gets().....and nothing happened. Plz help me.
