RS232 to Ethernet Command Format
PostPosted: Thu Sep 10, 2009 11:17 am     Reply with quote

Hi,

I am using a pic18f452 along with the max232 chip to send commands and information from the pic. I am also using RS232 to Ethernet converter (moxa nport 5210). the ethernet port is connected to a modem. I want to be able to send the modem some commands.
I tried sending the commands as character strings, but i dont receive any replies from the modem. I am wondering if i have to embed the IP address of the modem in the command string.

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks.

huh?

The ethernet port is connected to a modem!?!?

Shouldn't the ethernet port be connected to an ethernet network!?!

or are you saying the ethernet port connects to a modem elsewhere on the network through a similar ethernet to serial device?

We need a block diagram from you that would help explain the connection you're looking for.
