Simple LCD Question

Hi boys:
Just a simple (and maybe stupid ) question:
Is it possible reverse the color in a normal LCD?
i.e: I want to write into a 16x2 with white color and backcolor black, something similar to glcd.

I think that if there isn't a command into datasheet ( HD44780 ) then is not possible to do it....
Then I want your opinions..

As far as I know, I don't think its possible to reverse LCD colour unless the LCD driver specifically supports it. Most character LCD drivers these days are not actually the HD44780, but rather, equivalent chips, supporting more or less the same functions - you may be able to display a few additional characters over and above the standard HD44780 character set. To see if the colour is actually reversible, you will have to go through the module-specific datasheet.
