Hi everyone,
Have anyone tried the CCS compiler with MPLAB?
I intend to buy CCS, but I'd like to receive some comments about this subject.
Thanks
Dinho

I use the MPLAB 6.10.10 with CCS sort of. I use an external editor for all my edits then compile and program in MPLAB using the ICD 2.
I have noticed that MPLAB is not "stable" so if you use it save often.

I use CodeWright. It allows you to define custom keyword highlighting for the preprocessor and built in functions.
Other good editors are:
VaPad - free www.wholetomato.com\vapad
UltraEdit - Cheap and good
I really like Visual Assist from www.wholetomato.com as an add in for visual studio. I hate to program with out it.

I use and am quite pleased with WinEdit
( <a href="http://www.winedit.com/default.asp" TARGET="_blank">http://www.winedit.com/default.asp</a> )
It has many nice features as an editor and does a good job understanding the "C" language.

I would recommend against using MPLAB V6.1x with any compiler - there are too many issues as of yet. MPLAB V5.7.40 is nice and stable and works well with CCS.
However, I have experienced issues with network drives in both MPLAB versions. You will have the best luck storing your projects on a local hard drive when using MPLAB and also CCS.
I have produced commercial code for five years with the CCS compiler and this code is running in literally millions of consumer products. I recommend you buy it if you need a C compiler.
