PICkit 2 and PIC24
PostPosted: Sat Mar 14, 2009 6:08 pm     Reply with quote

Has anyone tried programming a PIC24 with the PICkit 2? I'm using the PIC25FJ256GB106 and have as yet been unable to program it with the PICkit 2. I've tried both MPLAB v8.2 and the PICkit programming software. Both programs produce an error saying that the device is not recognized/detected. More specifically from MPLAB:

PKWarn0003: Unexpected device ID: Please verify that a PIC24FJ256GB106 is correctly installed in the application. (Expected ID = 0x10190000, ID Read = 0x0)

and from PICkit 2 Programmer:

No device detected.

I have however been able to program a PIC18 with the PICkit.
I'm using the first set of PGC/PGD pins and the ENVREG and VDDCORE pins are connected as in the data sheet to enable the on chip voltage regulator.

This is really a Microchip question. You should ask it on their PicKit2 forum:

I've been using PIC24FJ128GA106 with PICkit 2 and I see, that also GB chips are listed among supported devices in the respective Readme.txt. (Assuming you are using recent PICkit 2 software or MPLAB IDE).

ID Read = 0 normally indicates a basic ICSP hardware problem.
