Install problems, help!
PostPosted: Wed Jan 28, 2009 11:42 am     Reply with quote

I have a small issue here that has me pulling my hair out, at least what's left of it. My company decided to replace my computer with a newer one and so I've been trying to install all of my programs onto it. When I installed CCS (I'm still using 3.249 since V4 was being so buggy I didn't want to be a beta tester and my employer doesn't see the need to spend money if the current version works for us) the Project Wizard is not there to select from the menu and when I open a previous project and try to compile it I get an Access Violation error and it BARFS all over the place.

I've made sure I have the correct .crg files and I've even tried copying the files, in the Program Files directory straight over to see if that would cure things. Still no go. I've done multiple installs to no avail. The help files won't even come up on the new system. I'm not sure what else to try. Suggestions???

I'm ready to go postal on this one.

Tell your O/S. It's probably Vista, right ? I doubt that the v3.249 IDE
was tested on Vista. v3.249 came out in March of 2006, and Vista came
out in November 2006.

We're still using XP PRO. The OS is the exact same as my original box. We use an automated network system to ensure all PC's throughout the entire company are the same. Anything else?

Okay, wierd....

I have been doing the multiple installs right on top of the other installation. I just tried deleting the entire folder from the Program Files directory and uninstalling the MPLAB plug-in and then installed 3.249 from scratch. Success! Okay. I can go get that hair transplant now.
