how to turn off I2C bus
PostPosted: Fri Oct 17, 2008 3:47 pm     Reply with quote

Hi, im working on a project where the current consumption is very important, does anyone know how can i turn off the I2C bus? because the 2 resistors (4,7k) drain 2mA... thats a lot.

if i connect the 2 resistors to a IO pin and drive it high when i need to read/write to the bus??

thanks

The idle state for the i2c bus is for SDA and SCL to be floating,
and to be pulled up to a high level by the pull-up resistors.
There should be little or no current on those pins.
