rtc + glcd + fat32 on sd card help

I've thought up a project and i need help / advice,

I want to make a project that uses appointments stored in a simple text file stored on the sd card and display them on the lcd when they match the rtc,

I want to use one line in the text file to store the start date and time and the end time of the appointments,
and the another line for the information eg Work, dentist, etc

I've used the rtc before and I've had the glcd working and displaying info but I've never used fat32 or the sd card before let alone reading info in the file (which is the part that I need most help with) but I can't figure out how to read more than a single variable on the same line in the text file from fat32.

If anyone could help or have any input to help with this I'd appreciate it!
