help in glcd function

hi i'm doing the project that need to use a graphic lcd.
This is my questions:

1. do i need any adc to work with the lcd?
2. in pic c there is a driver called glcd.c, when i'm writing the main function, why can't i just write this codes:
for example:
glcd_init();
glcd_pixel(12,34,ON);
because this is the codes that i want to use only
why couldn't i just call it up and display the thing that i want?

Your questions are about the CCS example file Ex_glcd.c.

CCS uses the ADC just to demonstrate how to get a value from
some device, and then how to display it by using the glcd functions.
You don't have to use the ADC. It's only used to give an example.
