The problem about usart command.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 27, 2008 11:02 pm     Reply with quote

Hi,

I got a problem about usart on CCS C Compiler.

I am using CCS on PIC 16f877 and C18 C compiler on PIC 18f452.

My problem is that I can use the command which is UARTOpen(baud rate) to control the usart in PIC 18f452 to send data to another microcontroller with the A7eng. eb501 bluetooth but I do not find any similar command in CCS C compiler.

Does anyone know that is there any similar function or command to use?

I read the reference manual and the "#use rs232" is the only command which I can find in the reference manual.

any help will be appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Brian

#use rs232, is the command.
If you want to change the baud rate _after using this_, there is a separate 'set_uart_speed' command.
Also, remember that with CCS, you have 'symbolic' UART 'streams', so you can setup the same UART with multiple #use statements, and access the settings you want, by just selecting the stream name.
It is actually quite a 'nice' part of the language.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

I am really new beginner on this. Could you explain what do you mean "'symbolic' UART 'streams'". ? Could you give some example?

Thank you very much.

If you are trying to create a software UART, you should check this link out.
