ICD-U64 & Load-n-Go programmers fail with FW 3.64
PostPosted: Sun Aug 10, 2025 8:37 pm     Reply with quote

Hi All,

I just tested programming an old board with a PIC16F18055 that I had programmed dozens of times using the ICD-U64 (with an older ICD-U64 FW version) but today it is failing after I upgraded the U64 FW to 3.64.... Shocked

I tested it out with the 2nd U64 (which I also updated to FW 3.64) and a Load-n-Go which I also upgraded to FW 3.64 and they're all crapping out.

One thing I am seeing that's concerning is that Vpp out of these programmers is reaching 10V (on the MCLR_ line) on my oscilloscope. These microcontrollers have an absolute maximum MCLRE_ voltage spec of 9V.

Has anyone heard issues with the FW 3.64 affecting the U64 or load-n-go programmers?

Roll back the FW and see what that does. I tend not to trust the CCS new programmer FW releases because the same thing happened to me in front of customers once.
