Porting code to another PIC Microcontroller

In 2006-2007 I wrote a program for the PIC16F690 using the CCS C-compiler (PCW IDE 3.249 and PCM 3.249).

I am currently developing a new PCB, where I need a PIC microcontroller and I need to use the majority of code already developed for the previous PIC16F690. However I would like to use a more general purpose PIC microcontroller, preferably one in which the VREF and ICSPCLK functions do not share one pin.

I have lots of real estate -- so I can use a larger (i.e., higher pin-count) PIC microcontroller.

Cost of microcontroller is not an issue.

Can anyone suggest another FLASH microcontroller that has ADC input, digital I/O, and in-circuit programmability. I need no other subcircuits. Preferably the most popular general-purpose microcontroller that should be available for the next several years.

Set the Prefix for 16F, and then narrow it down from there.

I found an excellent on-line comparison tool at the microengineering labs website (melabs.com) -- I have decided on the PIC16F887.
