Greetings. I just bought an ICD-U40 and am having problems detecting the target device. I have the PIC18F4520 development kit from CCS and it will detect this part although sometimes even this part is not detected unless I unplug the ICD from the USB cable and plug it back in. Seems like some kind of software/firmware problem.
My main problem is trying to talk to my target device on another board. It is a PIC16F884 (uses internal oscillator) and I cannot get it to detect. The programming cable looks correct as far as wiring goes but I did add series 330 ohm resistors to the PGM, CLK, and DAT lines. Do you think this would cause a problem? I only did this because the ICD has no isolation/easily replaceable pin drivers.

I did finally get the ICD functioning after a tech. support call to CCS. If using the 16F88x devices you have to make sure the PGM/B3 pin is pulled to ground and that the programming mode is set to fast.
