Mach X Chip Burning Problem |

I just got a new Mach X programmer as my old PRO16 can't do the newer chips. I have burned 16F648As successfully.
When I try to burn a 12C508A, it fails. I can burn them successfully with the PRO16.
With the PRO16, there is a window which shows you where to place the IC for correct burning. The Mach X does not have such a window. I just put the chips in so pin 1 of the chip is at pin 1 of the burner.
Is this correct?
If not, where is the info for doing it correctly? |

OK, I got an answer from CCS support. They say to always put pin 1 of the chip at pin 1 of the ZIF socket.
They still did didn't explain the failure to program the 12C508As though. |

I just tried to program a PIC12C509A (windowed version) using MACH-X with chip in the ZIF socket. Latest software and firmware (1.121/0.41). Verify fails. Have not tried contact CCS support, will probably just use other programmer. |

I wonder what the problem is? Is it because the chips are "obsolete." |

So far, all I've heard back from CCS is that the chips are supported. They asked some questions as if they were going to look into it.
I think there are non-obsolete parts in the same family that use the same programming interface. |
