ICSP J Series getting not able to see micro with ICD-U40
PostPosted: Sun Jun 17, 2007 5:35 am     Reply with quote

Hi,
First time I decided to program a J series micro only to find it did not work, at first I thought it was me as the QFN package is very small and first time using solder past for soldering, I thought I had made an error. any way after building 2 additional boards (very small package) I thought I could not be that unlucky, Shocked

finally, I checked and rechecked the Connection all OK. pulled out my microchip ICD 2 and connected via microchip v7.41 Smile it worked.

I was able to program the micro. Now I know that the soldering was OK, the connection and layout OK. ICD-U40 does not program the J series
I did get running dianostic on the IDC program
VDD =0
VPP = 4.9V either on test plug in (unplug programmer 3.3V (10K PU))

(ICD program V2.78 firmware V02.16)

micro 18F25J10

Any idears on the fix? do I need to buy another IDC_U40
My ICD-U40 does program 5v series micro.

Confused Question

Do you see a small window in the lower left that says "Target Type"
Did you select "J Series PIC?

"yes thankyou"

had it clicked it on j series

When I find my spare ICD-U40 I will try that one as well to see if the result is the same

///////////////////////////////////

Found it!
I was looking for my spare ICD-U40, it was plug into the PC that fell behind the desk still plugged in. Plugging in a second on the same PC not good.

2 x ICD-U40 will not work, one at a time works OK
both of my ICD-U40 works. one question can we have these ICD-U40 addressable. so we can select which one to use for program.
