Hello folk
after running setup_usbdriver.exe go to program files\picc\usb tools\winxp and open the ccsftdibus.inf in notepad then change:
[SourceDisksNames]
1="USB Tools",,,\PROGRA~1\PICC\USBTOO~1\WinXP\
to:
[SourceDisksNames]
1=%DriversDisk%,,,
save the edited file on your desktop (because we as a people are all incapable of make wise saving decisions on our computers, microsoft in it's infinite wisdom has made it so you can't save directly to program files anymore, unless you are administrator)
then copy your new edited file over and replace the old one. (of course there will be an larger than life prompt with a question that requires an essay answer instead of the mondane "yes or no" - YIPEE)
STEP 2 (because anything can be done in three steps with creative counting)
Plug in your Mach X
If you decide to tell it to find a driver instead of just clicking (paraphrased) "go away", it will cry and say (paraphrased again) "I JUST CAN'T DO IT CAPTIN" then you say "CLOSE" you wretched little annoyance.
step 3
go to the device manager (yes it still exists) find the CCS MACH X device (hiding way down there in the Universal Serial Bus section) --> right click update device driver (or what ever it says) then click (oh I love paraphrasing) "let me do the talking", go find that winxp directory and click OK, then just follow the simple prompts signig your life away to install a bloody driver. and PRESTO your Mach X has found it's new home on a Windows Vista Machine. |
