I'm using CCS ICD-U40 (Firmware Ver: 1.39) and tring to burn one of the CCS sample firmware on to CCS's PIC18F4550 development boards. The ICD fails to recognize the correct PIC device.
Is there a newer firmware version for the ICD-U40?, or is my problem elsewhere?
Thanks;

My own fault..... The new CCS USB Development board (based on the PIC18F4550) has the option (jumpers) of powering from the USB line or from the 9VDC power supply.
9VDC power is required in order to program the chip.

There are also jumpers in the ICD that you can set to power the dev board from the ICD. So you can jumper both and ditch the 9-volt supply.
