using the ICD1 with CCS
PostPosted: Wed Mar 23, 2005 9:52 am     Reply with quote

I'm currently usinfg CCS compiler ver3.20 and the ICD programmer. I can get the prgrammer to program the PIC using MPLAB but when I go to use it from CCS it tells me that the ICD does not have the CCS firmware loaded.
Looking at the help file it says "To install the firmware click on “Configure Hardware” then click on the center top button to load ICD firmware."
My question is

Where is this Configure Hardware tab or what ever and where is the ICD firmware. Basicly how do I install the Firmware.

Cheers

If I remeber well ICD1 was delivered with processor of "C" version so it's no way to reprogram it.
The best way is to buy 16F876, download files called ccsicd-pic16.hex or ccsicd-pic.18.hex (depends on target processor) from ccsinfo site.
Program this PIC by some other programmer, insert the 16F876 to ICD1 and enjoy debugging a programming the target from CCS IDE.

Hope it helps

Regards Igor
