output_x() function?

I presume you mean that you want to read a value from one of the 'internal' registers, rather than just a normal variable?.
In the latter case:

output_x(variable_name);

In the former case:

#byte name=address

Where 'name' is the name you want ro use to 'talk' to this register, and 'address' is the address of the register in memory.
Then:

output_x(name);

Will read the value at 'address', and output this to the port.
