Unfortunately MicroChip elected not to add new devices....

However people have worked on this:

<http://www.septillion.nl/index.php/add-unsupported-chips-to-the-pickit-2/>

This allows you to add more devices.

However here:

<http://wiki.pinguino.cc/index.php/PIC18F47J53_Pinguino>

Near the bottom of the page, there is a link to a zip file, which contains an updated devices.dat file supporting the 27J53, and the 47J53. Smile

Look at section 3.4.2 in the user guide.

<http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/51553E.pdf>

You run the chip powered off 3.3v, not off the programmer.

Unless it is a cheap PicKit 2 clone and not an actual PicKit 2.

So i need to connect separate power supply (3.3V) to PIC IC
And ICSP Programing Pin
Programmer - PIC IC
Pin1 - MCLR
Pin2 - No connection
Pin3 - Gnd
Pin4 - PGD
Pin5 - PGC

This is correct.

Thanks for the post Ttelmah.

After reading the link you have provided
I would like to bring out from retirement my PICKIT2 by adding a few MC, specifically the PIC18F46K22 and PIC16F1847.
I try to find the programming specifications for them by google and Microchip but didn't find.
Some idea where/how to find?

Best wishes
Joe

For the 46K22, it is 41398B.pdf, for the 1847, it is 41439A.pdf

The search should find it, but the problem is that the chip name is not just that for the chip. So for the second one (for example), the actual title is PIC16F/LF1847/PIC12F/LF1840 Memory Programming...
