Generically define pin

Hi, I'm relatively new to programming pics so sorry if I'm asking for something ridiculous. I'm trying to generically call or use a pin kind of like this.

Code:

def pin (pinNumber):
PORTA.pinNumber = 0


sorry for mixing python with C but I think it's clearer this way or at least easier for me to write.
