usage of mdd stack and RX/TX pins simultaneously
PostPosted: Thu Jul 04, 2013 12:31 pm     Reply with quote

Greetings! I'm using MPlab v8.91, CCS v 4.134 and mdd stack v2012-06-22 (I have from CCS and it's perfect). I loaded the stack on 18F66J60, but I'm out of pins so I need to use RX/TX(C6/C7) pins as I/O pins. I don't know why but the mdd stack uses RS232. I commented the #use RS23 row and it continues to work fine but in spite of that it disturbs the I/O functions of pins C6 and C7. How can I deal with this problem?
Thanks!

Most of these driver do not use RS232 _unless you have their debugging operation selected_.
There is usually a #define, enabling debugging, and if this is enabled, they will print diagnostic messages to the RS232.
You don't want to remove the #use RS232, instead REM out the line that enables this debugging operation, which then stops them using the RS232.

Best Wishes
