what's the Rotary Encode switch ?how to use it

Hello guys
I used the rotary encode switch, but i never meet this device. i use the device in my project that adjust the PWM .
who can give me a support for this?

Start by looking at the PIC18F__31 family as it has a built in QEI unit.

Next, google "quadrature encoding"...

That should get you started.
