Frequency meter that works up to 6-7 MHZ

Using PIC 16f88, is possible to implement a frequency counter that could work up to about 7 mhz without using a hardware prescaler? My goal is to read the frequency every 100 ms and store it in a variable. Accuracy is not a big problem. It can be up to 100 Hz. Thank you.

Look at table 18-6 of the PIC16F87/88 datasheet. If you have a good 50% duty cycle it looks like you could go up to 50MHz on T0CLK. 7MHz (megahertz) should not be a problem.

If you really only want 7mHz (millihertz) any PIC can handle that. I once worked with geologists that wanted to measure frequencies down to 1mHz, about one cycle every 17 minutes.
