Profibus on PIC
PostPosted: Tue Nov 15, 2011 1:38 am     Reply with quote

Hi, I need to develop a Profibus slave for industrial devices.

Unlike Modbus, Profibus specification is very complicated and even obtaining the specification is too expensive.

So, I looked for bus controller ASIC's but they are all designed to be used with 8051's, and I could not understand their example code or operation because I have no experience with 8051 (I have only used AVR/PIC/MSP430).

Do you know simple easy to use Profibus bus controller where I only have to worry about data exchange?

Please, I need expert's advice.
Thank you

A dedicated PROFIBUS hardware controller is in fact required to provide the full range of data rates up to 12 MBaud.

I would opt for a Profichip VPC3+S with SPI/I2C interface.
