Sensing irradiance
PostPosted: Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:53 pm     Reply with quote

hai all,
I am developing a logger that will monitor temperature and irradiation. For sensing irradiation, I use bpw21r. I want to ask whether this sensor have its own driver or not.TQ

What do you expect from a "driver" in this case? I guess, you would simply want to connect the diode as current source between VCC and a sense resistor and the latter to an ADC input to get a linear lux to V respectively ADC value characteristic?

A light-to-digital sensor from Taosinc, e.g. TSL2550 will provide an eye-corrected irradiance value for about half the price of a BPW21R,, but with larger dynamic than achievable with a PIC 10-Bit ADC, by the way.
