counting pulses using interrupt

hi guys,
I am using pic 16f877a for counting pulses at its pin_b and shows its value at lcd. I make program without enabling interrupts but it is not working properly. Please guide me how can I write my program.

What is the frequency (or frequency range) of the pulses ?
What is the duty cycle of the pulses ?
Are the pulses continuous, or do they come in bursts ?
What is the purpose of the project ?
