PIC24 hardware issue
PostPosted: Mon Apr 12, 2010 9:48 am     Reply with quote

hi all

I made a hardware to use the PIC24fj256gb110 microcontroller..
but I am getting problems in programming it...

When I try to communicate with MPLAB ICD2 DEBUGGER through 6 pin RJ45 cable, it says
"unable to detect target device. target may not be powered up"

The connections are as follow of RJ45 are as follow
Quote:

pin 1 of rj45 to MCLR
pin 2 of rj45 to 1uF cap and VCC
pin3 is ground
pin4 of RJ45 to RB7
pin5 of RJ45 to RB6

I am trying to run port A as digital out, Uart 1 and SPI 1.
I have kept programming connections same as given in explorer 16 datasheet schematics.

The software I am using is MPLAB IDE v 8.10.

This problem doesn't really involve the compiler. It's an ICD2 issue.
You should ask about it in the Microchip ICD2 forum:

May be you confused the RJ45 connections. Some modular cables are straight (1:1) others are 180° twisted.
There are no basic issues involved with ICD2 programming of PIC24F, as far as I'm aware of.

no, just recently did a project with a PIC24... they work.

Double check those connections on the ICD -> PIC.

There's a sample circuit for interfacing with guidelines in the ICD2 help file in MPLAB.
