MPLAB SIM debugging multi-source lined files
PostPosted: Fri Feb 12, 2010 5:40 am     Reply with quote

Hi
I am using PWM to compile and link three c source files in multiple compilation unit mode and then attempting to debug through MPLAB 8.11 using SIM.
The problem I get is when stepping through I get some function calls not jumping into the other source files but repeated locations within the same file. Copying the function source to the primary file and recompiling seems to resolve this on the limited testing I have done, but I wouldn't want to do this with all my code.
Is this a known limitation with SIM, that it can't handle multiple source files (I couldn't find anything to say this in the docs) or is there someone who recognises a gotcha here?
Is the only way to solve this to use #include<xyz.c> into a single source file?
I was trying to keep with more traditional C coding approaches.
Cheers
Mike

Sounds like the source annotation isn't done correctly in a multi-source CCS *.cof file. If so, source level-debugging must fail.
