Hello fellow PICers,
I have a completely off topic question here because I know there are a lot of people with a lot of knowledge and resources.
I have a microphone, that I wear on my ear, that connects to a transmitter on my belt. It transmits to a receiver that is connected to a P.A. system. It's made by Audio-Technica. I am looking for some kind of bluetooth microphone that I can wear on my ear and transmit to a bluetooth receiver that will connect to that P.A. system.
I guess it doesn't have to be bluetooth based. I simply want to get rid of the wire on the microphone so I don't have anything to get caught or tangled up. A microphone that I can wear on my ear that will transmit directly to a receiver at the P.A. system.
Anybody know where to start looking?
Thanks for your assistance.
Ronald

BTW - I have looked at countless sites that google brought up. Virtually none have anything useful.

Any bluetooth earpiece for a phone.
A laptop with Bluetooth.
Then use the HeadSet profile.
I do it all the time with my phone... in the opposite direction. (My USB headsets w/mic act as the audio for my phone while I'm on a call)

I don't think too many companies make something like this because transmitting radio waves that powerful so close to the skull is considered risky. In England, wireless headsets have been proven to cause brain tumors. Bluetooth or a similar digital wireless communication is ceartinly the way to go. You'll probably sacrifice quality, but you'll be tumorless! |

Uhh, what do you think a bluetooth earpiece is!?!?
Motorola and lots of others make these. They are all radio transmitters.
I would also add that bluetooth is in the 2.4GHz ISM band. Go check to see what frequency microwave ovens operate at.
Anyway - let's end this thread. It's off topic for this forum by a HUGE margin.
Regards,

I was referring to bluetooth as being the way to go because the transmit power is generally going to be under 1 watt, where a wireless headset mic will transmit with much more power. Bluetooth is pretty safe because it's working on such low power, in my opinion. |

Cellphones are all over the place these days -- Used to be about 600mW to 3W for a bagphone... even still at the low power some put out, because of the freuqncy are still considered by some to be a hazard. (fun starting link: http://www.techmind.org/gsm/).
As for Bluetooth
Class 1 = 100mW = 20dBm = 100m range
Class 2 = 2.5mW = 4dBm = 10m range
Class 3 = 1mW = 0dBm = 10cm range
(ranges are approximate based on environment)
So yes, bluetooth is LESS... but like a phone is also next to your ear...
and the frequency of a microwave oven.
You be the judge. ;)
