Jpeg Decompression

Do ya recon its possible on a PIC, I have been looking over the net and can't find examples of this, I guess it would need an SD card with a temp file setup - that isn't a problem.
I had a look at computer libraries but it went a little over my head, any thoughts?

Possible. Probably on a larger PIC. Sensible. Almost certainly not. I'd 'guess' at something in excess of a couple of hundred 'man hours' of work to do this, from a standing start, including researching the algorithm etc. and then, the results will be pretty slow....

On the DSPICs, performance is much more likely to be acceptable.

Much easier to just use one of the off the shelf decompression LSI chips.

Now, some of this will 'depend' on the nature of the jpeg. If you limit the types of jpeg supported, the work goes down a lot. If you try http://www.ijg.org/files you will find C sources for one of the commonest 'free' jpeg libraries.

Best Wishes
