Implementing Linear Quadratic Regulator Control
PostPosted: Fri Feb 15, 2008 5:58 am     Reply with quote

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience in developing this type of control system using a pic. I am starting to design an active mass damper system for my engineering design project. Think i might be able to try linearize the system and then use PID but I have heard that the linear quadratic regulator is a better control system for vibrations applications.

Thanks

Without knowing more details, it's hard to answer your question. Biggest concern is how complex the math is, and how fast you have to update your control outputs. My guess is that the pic will be just fine.

But remember, this is just a guess Smile

If at all possible try to use only integer math. It is much smaller and faster. Well written integer FFTs run about 50 x the speed of floating point FFTs.
