understanding I2C modes
PostPosted: Thu Sep 06, 2007 9:37 am     Reply with quote

Hello

I am unfamiliar with PIC's. I wish to know the differences between having SSP with I2C slave and master capabilities. I wish to use a 16F690 to store data on an external eeprom (24LC16B). However if I understand the datasheet the 16F690 has full slave capabilities, but a more complicated firmware controlled master mode. Is it possible to use the CCS I2C method in a master mode to communicate with the EEPROM? Do I need another microcontroller with full master capability?

D.
