Quick question. I'm actually planning on using the SFE bootloader and screamer for uploading the hex file (sparkfun.com).
What I want to know is once the bootloader checks for 'new firmware' request, it will load the program - wouldn't the RX/TX (UART) pins of the PIC now fall under the control of the program code, allowing debugging via the usual way?
I was going thru some past posts regarding the CCS bootloader as well as the SFE one. It seems that both release control over the UART and pass it over to the application (which makes a lot of sense) and is the answer I was looking for
That said, as I'm working on a time critical application, it seems that bootloading could cause more problems but I'll give it a try when time permits.
