SIOW and bootloader

Hi,

I am trying to grow my own software for uploaded the hex file to my PIC18F458 which has the CCS bootloader installed.

Siow.exe works great when I click the menu option labelled Download software but not when I use the menu option labelled Open File. They both appear to transfer the hex file to the PIC but only the Download Software function seems to work!!

Understanding why this is the case would be extremely useful as my home-grown hex file transfer app seems to be behaving the same as the Open File option in siow.exe app.

Any one any ideas what might be causing the problem. I seem to get all of the ACK instructions from the PIC but the program is not loading and then not releasing itself from the bootloader.
